Richard D. Connell

Richard Dale Connell, 89, of Independence, MO passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family December 31, 2022.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home; Independence, MO. Funeral to follow at 11 a.m. Burial at New Salem Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to: New Hope Baptist Church.

Richard was born July 11, 1933 in Corning, AR to Oscar L & Bessie (Henderson) Connell. He married Charlotte Grisham on October 18, 1965 in Mt. Vernon, MO. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a proud Korean War Veteran. His time served in the Army was 1951-1954. Richard liked gardening, and having breakfast with the other Veterans and friends known as the Liar’s Club. He loved going on fishing trips with his wife. Richard worked 2 or 3 jobs at a time while his children were growing up. He owned his own lawncare business. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Richard loved hanging out with his grandkids.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters and 1 brother.

Richard is survived by his wife Charlotte Connell of the home; daughters: Timberley Hidalgo of Kansas City, KS, Rosa Connell of Independence, MO; grandchildren: Josh Anderson, Zachary Connell, Tanner Wright; great-grandchildren: Taylor Anderson, Brayden Connell, Sylas Wright, Mason Connell, Nixon Anderson, Amelia Anderson, Carson Anderson.
