Arturo J. Valenzuela Sr.
Arturo Joseph Valenzuela Sr., 70, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Friday, December 25, 2015. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 31st at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.
Arturo was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a Vietnam Veteran and spent most of his life serving his country, retiring as Master Sergeant. In his time in the Military he received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart medal. After retiring from the Army he went on to work in civilian service for the Department of Defense, leading to his second retirement with a total of 40 years of civil service. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He loved fishing, reading and being a grandfather. Arturo was a beloved member of his family and will be missed greatly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus Valenzuela and Laura Wheeler; daughter, Lorraine Solas; and brother, Thomas Valenzuela. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Valenzuela; sons, Christopher Valenzuela (Amber), Arturo Valenzuela Jr. (Kimberly); step-son, Eric Buckles; sisters; Paula Morgan and Linda McCue; and 5 grandchildren.
