
Betty M. Cline
Betty Mae Cline, 80, passed away unexpectedly January 19, 2024 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Blue Springs, MO, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Betty was born the 7th of 13 children on April 21, 1943 in Grady, AR, the daughter of Alfred and Ester (Brown) Saylor. Her family lived in Mariana, AR where her father was a riverboat captain on the St. Francis River. As a 7-year-old child Betty’s family suffered tragedy of her mother’s untimely death shortly after her mother, Ester, gave birth to Betty’s 12th sibling, Noel. Due to these circumstances, Betty was primarily raised by her older sister, Imogene.
As a young adult, Betty relocated to Kansas City, KS where she met the love of her life, who she is survived by, her devoted husband, Gerald “Dean” Cline. They married January 21, 1961 and celebrated nearly 63 years of marriage.
Betty obtained an Associate’s degree at Blue Springs Community College, where she used her gained knowledge to be a dietician at St. Mary’s Hospital, Blue Springs. After serving some time as a dietician, Betty worked alongside her life-long partner, Dean, as co-owner/operator of various businesses that most recently included, Home Decorator Store, Oak Grove, MO.
Betty was a self-taught pianist and loved playing hymns at Oak Grove Bible Church. She also, enjoyed square dancing with a local Odessa group and clogging with husband, Dean, and granddaughter Jennifer with the Village Cloggers. Above all else, Betty adored her family and was a totally devoted wife and mother.
Betty was the beloved mother to Michael (Barbara) Cline, Julie (Frank) Sudario, and Alan (Denice) Cline; grandmother to: Jennifer, Stephen, and Ryan Cline, Katherine Pennington, and Matthew Sudario; and great-grandmother to: Remington, Karsyn, Davis, Conner, Layla, Calvin, Makenzie and one more on the way!
Betty is also survived by her siblings: Lorine (Saylor) Boozer of Batesville, AR; Ruby (Saylor) Skipper of Tyronza, AR; Eugene Saylor of Marianna, AR; and Sam Saylor of Lee’s Summit, MO.
