Charles D. Blackshere

Charles David “Dave” Blackshere, 64, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017, unexpectedly working alongside his loyal friends and associates.  Visitation for family and friends will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 8th at Waldo Restoration Branch Church, 819 West Waldo Avenue, Independence, MO, 64052. Memorial services begin at 3:00 p.m., with a reception following.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made directly to the family.

Dave was born July 29, 1952 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, and was a lifelong area resident of KCMO. He worked as a contractor in skilled trades solving house repair issues or helping to beautify homes through remodeling.  Dave was known in his industry and by his loyal customers as a very hard worker, a fair employer, and an honest businessman you could trust your keys with. He was known throughout the local area as Dr. Fix-It.

He leaves his wife of 25 years, Donna (Reed) Blackshere just days after their silver anniversary. Together they raised six grandkids in their home: David, Kilie, Katelyn, Clayton, Jessie, and Allisa.  He also leaves his stepson, Frank Hawkins Jr. of Coleman, FL,  two sons: Chris Blackshere of Kansas City, MO, and Joe Blackshere (wife Michelle); three grandkids: Eddie, Peyton, and Makenna; three sisters: Cheryl Blackshere of Kansas City, MO, Leola Eddins of Independence, and Sandy Edwards of Liberty, MO; brother, Sammy Buckley of St. Joseph, MO; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Dave’s love for riding motorcycles, passing time on his Play Station racing online with a close knit community of friends, and any and all racing events will forever be engrained in our memories. He never met a stranger and will be missed by all that knew him.
