
Clay D. Maddox
Clay Damon Maddox, 65, of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away at home on Sunday, July 7,2024. A funeral will be held on July 18, 2024, at 1:00 PM, by his family at the Lord of Love Lutheran Church, 8306 E. 171st Street, Belton, MO, 64012.
Clay was born in Quincy, IL on February 14, 1959, to Lamon and Sue Maddox and was the second of three children. He was raised by Sam Cushman, who married Sue when Clay was a child. He graduated from Hickman Mills High School in 1978. Not long after, he began work for the United States Postal Service as a driving instructor & mechanic for 36 years. Clay was a cowboy who loved his horses and his small farm that he vowed he would never leave. He raised and bred German Shepherds providing many loving companions for others. He is remembered as a son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and a steadfast friend to many. His greatest enjoyment was long Texas trail rides with his four-legged best friend April (his horse) and his two-legged best friend John Nolan (Brenda), among others.
Clay is survived by his parents, Sam & Sue Cushman of Raymore; Lamon & Toni Maddox of Kearney; his older brother, Cole Maddox (Deanna) of Belton; his younger sister, Lana Maddox of Raymore; and younger brother, Monte Cushman (Christa) of Foley, AL; also, his daughters Jessica Wineinger of Raytown & Ciara Maddox of Harrisonville; along with his grandchildren, Kannon & Roman Wineinger, Maleah Ford, and Trent Brown.
