Dean C. Jenkins, 84, of Bates City, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Blue Springs, MO. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 9th at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove, MO; burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Dean was born November 21, 1933, in Lone Jack, Missouri. He was a Marine Veteran of the Korean Conflict, where he was wounded twice and received 2 purple hearts. Dean enjoyed many country music shows, was an avid history buff, and spent many hours reading. He was a character and you never knew what he was going to say or do!
Dean was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Jean (Hayes) Jenkins in September 2010; and a son, Randy in 1957.
His survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Sprous (DeWayne) of Blue Springs, MO; two sons: Ron Jenkins (Sarah) of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Tom Jenkins (Deborah) of Holden, MO; brother, Bob Jenkins of Independence, MO; eight grandchildren: Matthew Sprous, Emily Sprous, Derick Deterding, Taylor Gasich, John Jenkins, Mac Jenkins, Jason Pucilowski, and Houston White; and three great-grandchildren.
