Debra S. Dorton

Debra Sue Dorton, of Oak Grove, MO, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2023 at the age of 61.

Debbie was born October 26, 1961, in Kansas City, MO to James & DeLane (Plunkett) Nebgen. Debbie graduated from Oak Grove High School in 1980. During her high school years, she enjoyed many activities including cheerleading and being the school mascot. During her younger years, Debbie liked to travel. She enjoyed several vacations in Acapulco and spent a month with friends in France.

After settling down and starting a family, Debbie began her career at Hallmark Cards. She made many lifelong friends during her time there.

In more recent years, Debbie loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards and watching her favorite team, the Kansas City Royals. She was known to love and collect ladybug and strawberry keepsakes.

Debbie will be remembered for her kind heart and sense of humor. She made friends everywhere she went.

Debbie was preceded in death by her father: James Nebgen, stepfather: Donald Myers, partner: Darrell Wilson, son-in-law: Adam Graybill.

Debbie is survived by her 3 daughters: Kimberly Shannon & husband Tyler, Jami Graybill, Jodi Crawford & husband Mitch; grandchildren: Amyah Graybill, Ayden Graybill, Tucker Crawford, Ada Shannon, Nyle Shannon; mother: DeLane Myers; stepmother: Carol Nebgen; sisters: Kimberly Nebgen & partner Debbie Ferguson, Rebecca Nebgen; Christy Hugunin & husband Chris; 3 nieces and 1 nephew.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 1st from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Oak Grove, MO. Memorial service to follow at 2:30 p.m.
