Ethel I. Long
Ethel Irene Long, 87, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away Friday, March 4, 2011 at St. Mary’s Manor. Funeral services will be 11 am Tuesday, March 8 at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-11 am preceding the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Odyssey Hospice.
Ethel was born on June 7, 1923 in Hepler, KS, the daughter of Charles (Fred) & Fay (Bratton) Graham. She married Gilbert Long on March 17, 1978, and he preceded her in death on October 12, 2007.Ethel had been a cafeteria worker at Unity Village before retiring. She had helped care for a great niece & nephew, Charles & Pamela Smith. Her favorite hobby was quilting, but she also enjoyed fishing and camping in the Branson area near Silver Dollar City.
Her survivors include a daughter: Judy Dixon of Midland, TX; two grandchildren: Jason Dixon of Round Rock, TX & Kelly Hinsley of Midland, TX; four great-grandchildren: Colby Hinsley, Baylea Builta, Elyse Dixon, & Jeffrey Dixon; and a sister: Evelyn Smith of Kansas City, MO.
