Frances J. Stone

Frances “Fran” Jean Slater Stone, 80 of Kansas City, MO passed away October 21, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation will be 10:00-11:30 am Friday, October 28, 2022 at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home; Independence, MO. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 am. Donations can be made in her memory to: ALZ.org, Susquehanna Baptist Church or your local food pantry.

Frances was born June 28, 1942 in Brookfield, MO to Allen & Marguerite (Apel) Slater.

She graduated from Marceline High School in May 1960 where she was homecoming queen her senior year. Fran met Larry G. Stone in May 1965 and they were married in October the same year. She worked as a Cafeteria Hostess at Elm Grove Elementary School for many years. Her impact on the students lasted as many in in their 20’s and 30’s would reintroduce themselves at the grocery store years later. Fran enjoyed spending time with her family and listening to music. She was an active member of Susquehanna Baptist Church.

Fran was preceded in death by infant son: Brent in 1968 and husband Larry in 2010.

Fran is survived by her son: Allen (Megan) Stone of Independence, MO, daughter: Amber (Anne Arnold) Stone of Kansas City, MO; grandsons: Remington Stone (Taylor Wiley), Wyatt Stone; granddaughter: Haylee Estenbaum; sister: Mary Jane (Virgil) Enyeart of Keytesville, MO; brother: Richard (Peggy) Slater of Kearney, MO as well as several nieces and nephews.
