George L. Proctor
George L. Proctor, 82, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019 at the VA Medical Center in Kansas City. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 15th at New Hope Baptist Church, 18000 Lexington, Independence. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
George was born on September 6, 1936, in Barnwell, South Carolina, the son of Jesse and Betty Proctor. As a young man, he served our country in the United States Air Force. George was a hard-working man. He worked in construction for many years pouring foundations. He enjoyed gardening, sometimes cultivating 3 or more gardens at the same time. George loved Southern Gospel Music concerts, playing cards, and fishing as often as possible. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
George is survived by his wife Cathy of 32 years, and his children: Hugh, Martin, Stacey, Tim, Larry, Laurie, Jennifer, and Renae. Grandpa George will be missed by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and of course, his little dog Lily.
