Gerald A. Schroeder
Gerald Albert Schroeder, 80, of Independence, Missouri, joined his Heavenly Father on August 3, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 7th at New Salem Funeral Home, Independence; burial in New Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org) in honor of his daughter and/or ALS (www.alsa.org/donate).
Gerald was born to Albert and Ella (Bode) Schroeder on November 19, 1934 in El Reno, OK. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves for 8 years. Gerald married Norma Jean Palmer in El Reno in December 1955. He was diagnosed with ALS in January 2014.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Norma; son, Randy; and sister, Phyllis. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Schroeder; his grandson, Justin (Christine) Schroeder; step-grandson, Brian (Stacie) Carrender; and 5 great-grandkids: Soren Schroeder, Dylan, Madelyn, Olivia, & Landen Carrender.
