Gretchen G. Buxter

Gretchen G. Buxter, 71, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Friday, August 14, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. 

Gretchen was born on August 27, 1948, in Independence, Missouri.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Edith (Acree) Kelley.  She was one of four children.  One sister preceded her in death, Jule Kelley; surviving siblings are Patricia White and Kevin Kelley.

Her survivors include her husband of 48 years, James E. Buxter.  Gretchen and James were married on June 3, 1972, at First Christian Church of Independence.  She is also survived by her three children: Kelli Aulgur, Holly Cruz, and Brian Buxter (Tisha); five grandchildren: Tony (CJ), Tiarra, Talon, Paige and Samantha; and one great-grandchild: Marlee.

Gretchen was a stay-at-home mom when her children were young.  As her children grew, she worked a variety of jobs, most notably as a medical billing specialist, always taking time to make great friends with the people she worked with.  She enjoyed planning holiday meals and making special candy treats for her grandkids.  She loved caring for her animals and being surrounded by her loved ones.  Her passion in life was traveling, sharing adventures with her family, and planning special trips with her loving husband.
