Helen J. Kunkel

Helen Jacqueline Kunkel, 78, of Grain Valley, MO formerly of Warsaw, MO passed away Monday, July 16, 2007 at her home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 19th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time. The graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon at Riverside Cemetery, Warsaw, MO.

Helen was born on March 17, 1929 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Lyndel & Hazel (McCormick) Phillips. She married E. Dean Kunkel on October 3, 1949 and he preceded in death in 1993. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Gene Phillips in 1999. Helen had been a bookkeeper at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant for 17 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blue Springs. Helene was a senior adult tax preparer and a volunteer at several area hospitals.

Her survivors include a son: Mike Kunkel & wife Jeri of LaCanada, CA; a daughter: Janet McCarthy & husband Mike of Blue Springs, MO; six grandchildren: Sarah, Patrick & Kaitlin McCarthy and Dustin, Keri & Nicholas Kunkel; and one greaet-grandson.
