
James M. Blaine
James “Jim” Marvin Blaine, 63, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley; memorial service to follow at 7:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Rd, Kansas City, MO 64137.
Jim was born on January 17, 1954, in Kansas City, MO, son of Marvin and Dorothy (Miliken) Blaine. Jim played football at Sedalia High and Central Methodist University. Jim owned and operated Unique Labels and then owned Valley Laundry for 7 years. Jim had abundant skill and passion for racing cars and training dogs. Jim raced cars at Valley Speedway. Jim was an avid dog trainer and taught dog classes. Jim trained Toto for Wizard of Oz productions, was the president of Greater Kansas City Dog Trainers Club, and did sheep dog herding demonstrations at local events and the American Royal.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents. His survivors include his wife, Julie of the home; sister Barbara Long (Steve) of Nevada, MO; 4 nieces and nephews, Kindra Smith (Kelly), Amy Fisher (Justin), Zack Long (Laurie) and Lindsay Jackson (Travis); mother-in-law and father-in-law, Camille and Eldred Schubert of Sedalia, MO; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Vicki Sena of Smithton, MO; 3 nieces, Angie Hayes (Michael), Amy Holloway (Stuart) and Alyssa Gerke (Adam); several great-nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
