James M. Woodward

James Matthew Woodward, 49, of Bates City, Missouri passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. Visitation will be 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2024 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, Missouri. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial in Lone Jack Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Woodward family. Please dress comfortably or in Chiefs attire.

Woody was born March 1, 1975 in Independence, Missouri to Walter and Cheryl (Wilkinson) Woodward. He enjoyed many things such as Sunday afternoon football, spending time at the lake, fishing and of course anything fast! He loved his Friday night smackdown. Woody really enjoyed sitting around bonfires with his family and friends. And spending time on the porch swing with Amy.

Woody is survived by his mother and father: Walter and Cheryl Woodward; the love of his life, Amy Reeves; brother, Mike Woodward (Wendy) and daughters; daughter, Destinee Ellis; 3 sons: Matthew Woodward, Tyler Woodward and Dakota Kirkman (Jessica Dumas); 4 grandchildren: Aiden, Aubree, Avalee and Magnolia; and a host of family and friends.
