Janice M. Porter

Janice Marie Porter, 73, of Buckner, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016.  Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 18th at New Salem Funeral Home, Independence, MO.

Janice was born November 20, 1942 in Independence, Missouri, the daughter of Paul and Gladys (Martin) Parks. Jan moved to San Bernardino, CA, when she was in her early 20’s where she met Frank Porter.  Jan and Frank were married on February 25, 1965.  They lived in Riverside, California, for over 30 years, where they raised their daughter, Susannah, and were business owners.  They then moved to Buckner, where they resided for 22 years. They traveled all over the western states, and Mexico.  Jan was a wife of 50 years, a mother, a business owner, and an avid animal advocate.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank, and a great-grandson, Brantley. She is survived by her daughter, Suzy; three grandchildren: Alexandra, Jonathon, and Sidney; six great-grandchildren: Jayden, Brooklyn, Mackensie, Vance, Ashlin, Kai, and Deklin, and sister, Carol Barnett.
