Leslie L. Galloway

Leslie LeRoy Galloway was born Nov 11, 1942 in Nordegg, Alberta, Canada. He grew up in Lethbridge, Alberta and earned his degree in engineering from University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. After working a few years, he made the decision to leave his job and enter full time ministry. He began learning Spanish, and moved to the border town of Brownsville, Texas in 1971. The next ten years were spent making many trips into southern Mexico, working with Mexican preachers and going to remote jungle villages where preachers rarely went and where the Spanish had to be translated into their own native languages.

On one of those trips, he met his wife, Marsha Weisser of Kodiak, Alaska. They eventually married and had their first daughter in Brownsville. He went back into the work force to support his family but continued ministry work on the side, first in Butte, Montana during the 80’s where 3 more daughters joined the family, and then in the Kansas City area for the last 35 years, where they added another daughter and a son. He ministered in the inner city of Kansas City since the mid 90’s and continued that work right up until he had a stroke last year, and fully intended to get back to it once he was able.

Les was a devoted family man and enjoyed his grandchildren immensely. He also loved fishing in Alaska!

He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Verna Galloway, and his only sibling, Ralph Galloway.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha and daughters, Kathleen (Jeremy) Morrone, Linda (Dan) Nowak, Julie (Cass) Hopkinson, Carrie Galloway, Amy (Brett) Schoonover, son Neal Galloway and seven grandchildren, Kylee and Grayson Nowak, Iris Morrone, Owen and Milly Hopkinson, and Summer and Skylar Schoonover as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be at 11am, Saturday, October 26 at Royer Funeral Home, 100 Royer Lane, Grain Valley, MO with visitation from 10-11am. Burial will follow the service at Perdee Cemetery, at E.
