Mary C. Gabriel
Mary Chelsa Gabriel, 91, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley; burial in Valley Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mary was born December 3, 1929, in Ithaca, New York, the daughter of Robert and Ruth (Lyerla) Fish. She grew up and graduated from high school in Marion, Illinois. Mary was a clerk at the U.S. Post Office. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, where she was also involved with the church youth group. Mary was a 4-H leader, a volunteer for Community Services League, and a member of the Grain Valley Historical Society. She was awarded Pillar of the Year in 2006.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bill Gabriel in 2015. Her survivors include sons, John Gabriel and Lance Gabriel (Valerie), both of Grain Valley; daughter, Marilyn Whitacre of Smithville, MO; sister, Ursula Richey of Marion, IL; six grandchildren: Megan Smith, Lauren Casa, Chase Gabriel, Chelsea Gabriel, Courtney Aguiar, and Hillary Owens; and three great-grandchildren.
