Richard L. Stiles

Richard Lee Stiles, 76, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Elks service at 1:30 and military honors following, Sunday, April 30, 2023 at the Blue Springs Elks Lodge ~ 100 N.E. Brizendine Road, Blue Springs, MO. 64014. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to: Blue Springs Elks Christmas Baskets Program or the Elks Veterans Program.

Richard was born October 6, 1946 in Joplin, Missouri to Leslie Earl and Avis Virginia (Nelson) Stiles. He had been an Elk for 40 years. Richard was PER twice, PDDGER, and Past State Secretary and a MO State Ritualistic Judge for the Elks. He was a member of American Legion.  Richard served twice as President of KC Eastern Model Railroad Club. He worked for the Social Security Administration for 34 years. Until he became ill, he was a part time employee for Midwest Model Railroad in Independence. Richard liked to hunt and shoot trap. He was an avid coin collector as well. He was on 2 bowling teams and bowled twice a week. Richard liked to keep busy, he always had a crossword puzzle in his lap. Most of all his enjoyment came from spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Amy Stiles Duell.

Richard is survived by his wife of 54 years, Maria Stiles; sons: Jason Stiles and Shane Stiles and wife Anne; 5 grandchildren: Ethan, Colton, Katelin and Madelin Stiles, and Kayla Busick; sister, Ellen Traver and husband Roger; brother, Lanny Stiles and wife Kelli; many nieces and nephews and extended family.
