
Richard O. Dahlstein
Richard Oscar Dahlstein, 84, of Odessa, Missouri passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 23rd at 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home; burial in Valley Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Buckner Christian Church.
Richard was born on May 28, 1934 in McGirk, MO, son of Elizabeth (Bonney) and Henry Dahlstein. He graduated from Clarksburg Missouri High School in 1952. He married Hilda Richardson on April 13, 1958. He was a Korean Era Veteran in the United States Marine Corps. Richard was active duty from 1954 to 1957 and did 5 years in the reserves. He was a member of the German Evangelical Church of California, MO. He enjoyed gardening, cutting firewood and hunting mushrooms. He was known as a tremendous story-teller who had a phenomenal memory. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Bill, Donald and Bob; and son-in-law, Ron Mullins.
His survivors include his wife, Hilda of the home; children, David (Carla) Dahlstein of Howard, OH and Cheryl (Larry) Kintz of Odessa; 12 grandchildren and their spouses; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; sisters, Anna Freed of Raytown, MO and Emma O’Bryant of North Kansas City, MO; a host of nieces and nephews; and by his best friend of 70 years and fellow Marine, Lowell Harris.
