Steve Smith
Stephen Douglas Smith, 54, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri passed away at home and entered his Heavenly home on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 31st at First Baptist Church, Oak Grove, MO. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts to the Mission Fund at First Baptist Church.
Steve was born September 20, 1961 to Charles & Effie Anna Smith. He was the youngest of 8 children. Even though he was the baby of the family, Steve was taught a strong work ethic by his parents. He was always working to provide for his family. When Steve had his stroke 6 years ago, he was unable to do the things he used to do. So he got his trusty four-legged gentle giant, Ozzy, to help keep him company.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Charles Smith; and father-in-law, Bobby Fleming.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Karen Smith; daughter, Afton (Daniel) Smith; two sons, Travis (Allison) and Nathan Smith; two grandchildren, Max and Lainie; mother, Anna Smith; mother-in-law, Bobby Jean Fleming; seven siblings; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, & great-nephews; and his good friend, Quentin Salley.
