Steven E. Cotter

Steven Eugene Cotter, 48, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the family and mailed to Royer Funeral Home, 100 Royer Lane, Grain Valley, MO. 64029

Steve was born August 3, 1972 in Big Sandy, Texas to Stanley and Mary Cotter. He is a 1990 graduate of Center High School in Kansas City, Missouri. While in high school, Steve participated in track and football. He was involved in youth programs with his church. He earned an Associate in Arts Degree in 2017. Steve’s passion was cooking, he loved music and played the guitar, and was an avid Chiefs fan.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Lou Thurber of Blue Springs, MO; father Stanley E. Cotter of Kansas City, MO; three sisters: Karla Cotter of Odessa, MO, Lisa McHendry of Grain Valley, MO,  Alana Dennis (and Tom) of Blue Springs, MO; brother, Stanley Cotter (and Joby) of Bruner, MO; stepchildren: Steven Miller and Jessica Williamson; nieces and nephews: Joseph McHendry, son Kayden McHendry, Dustin Rentfro, son Abrahm Rentfro and daughter Alorah Rentfro, Nicole McHendry, son Zaylon McHendry, Jesse Rentfro and many cousins and friends; and his beloved cat, Whiskey. Steve is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
