William H. Ison
William Henry Ison (affectionately known as Bill), age 79, passed away peacefully April 17, 2021 while surrounded by his family. Visitation with family will be held Tuesday, April 20th from 1:00-2:00pm followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm (both at First Bible Baptist Church, 1441 SE Adams Dairy Parkway, Blue Springs, Missouri). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “First Bible Baptist Church VBSC” (Vacation Bible Sports Camp for children).
He was born December 1, 1941 in Harrisonville, Missouri to Clarence and June Ison. Bill was married to Dottie on February 9, 1963 and spent nearly 56 years with the love of his life. He leaves an amazing legacy of love and faith for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Bill loved Jesus, his family, and was a man of both grace and humor. He was a true gentleman, and a precious testimony of what God does in a man over a lifetime of nearly eighty years. Bill was a bus captain at Blue Ridge Baptist Temple for many years, a long-time deacon at the Lee’s Summit Baptist Temple, and most recently a faithful member of First Bible Baptist Church in Blue Springs, Missouri. He rarely missed Sunday services, small groups, and Bible studies, and he especially loved being a part of the Investors Sunday School class. He was known as a hard-working man and he retired two times – first after 30+ years at General Motors as a member of the UAW and then after 20+ years at Hearth and Home. Bill also spent thirteen years with his wife Dottie as foster parents to more than fifty children. He loved trains, tractors, yard work, and telling stories for hours to anyone that would listen.
Bill is survived by his son Noel Ison and wife Julia, daughter Teresa Allen and husband Duane, five granddaughters Brittany Gitthens and husband Tyler, Tabitha Swartz and husband Nick, Laken Green, Libby Odofin and husband Olawale, Isabel Ison, one grandson Thaddaeus Allen, three great-granddaughters Hayden, Mia, and Emmy, brother Neil and wife Kay, sister Wanda, and nieces Mandy, Katie, and Stacy.
