William L. Smith
William Lewis “Buddy” Smith, 66, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016 at home surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Yolanda Smith; his daughter, Kelly West (Justin); and his granddaughter, Harper.
Buddy was a decorated Vietnam Veteran, serving with the 114th Aviation Company, The White Knights, as a Crew Chief on a UH-1 Huey Helicopter. He worked for USPS for 38 years, and retired in 2005. Buddy’s generosity, quick wit and smile will be missed by all who know him.
A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 11th at Royer-Hays Funeral Home, Blue Springs, MO. Inurnment will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 12th at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 123 W. Kansas Avenue, Independence, MO 64050.
